After obtaining her Bachelors of Arts from Missouri Western State College, LaShandra Shepard spent seven years working in higher education as an Admissions Counselor with Missouri Western and Academic Advisor with the Metropolitan Community Colleges.
It was during this time LaShandra began to explore how she could better help those struggling with mental illness find hope and balance. She returned to school and obtained her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University.
From 2009-2018 she worked in area school districts as a Family School Liaison, which gave her the opportunity to work with families struggling with life transitions that impacted their children from being successful in the education setting.
As a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, she opened her private practice, Journey of Faith Counseling, LLC. in 2015. LaShandra works with individuals, couples and families as they manage the problems that confront them, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, adjustment to college and/or life transitions, and support for enhancing communication/interpersonal skills. Helping those in the community struggling with racial identity and acculturation stress, as well as helping couples improve their relationships, reconnect and improve communication are also important focuses of her practice.
LaShandra is a wife of 15 wonderful years, and the mother to four amazing children. These relationships have helped to mold her into the Godly woman she embodies today.
