Greetings, Macedonia Family and Friends!
Today, you’re going to hear from the teacher in me. Stay with me now!
We live in an era where at the push of a button we can access a plethora of information on any subject at any time. The word “Google” was the mere name of an internet search engine (derived from the mathematical term “googol” meaning 10 to the 100th power, or, 10 followed by 100 zeros, an unfathomable number). Now, “google” is defined in the dictionary and commonly used as a verb. If you want to learn something, “Google it!” If you want to find somewhere or someone, “Google it!” Plus, the how-to-do’s are never-ending!!
Today, I want to remind you of the original search engine — God’s Word! That’s right the BIBLE. Do you want to know how to live? How to love? How to work? How to eat? It’s in there! Looking for joy? It’s in there! Peace? It’s in there! Are you looking for salvation? IT’S IN GOD’S HOLY WORD!
In times like these, you might be feeling anxious, or depressed, or just tired. Perhaps all that has gone on, and is going on, has taken a toll, and you’re wondering if you’re going to make it or how to persevere — IT’S IN THERE!! James 1:2 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance...”. HANG ON IN THERE!!
BIG KUDOS to Pastor McClemore and his committee whose hard work and creativity shined through this past week during our first Virtual Vacation Bible School! If you didn’t check it out, you missed a blessing! But don’t worry! The blessings will keep coming! On September 2nd we are kicking off our first Virtual Community Groups! We are blessed to B.L.E.S.S. and community groups will get us into the rhythm of doing just that; and let’s not forget we will have Youth Sunday (August 16th), Intern Sunday (August 23rd), and Family & Friends Sunday (August 30th)! Choirs used to sing a song that said, “We’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord, trusting in His holy word, He’s never failed me yet. Ooh ooh oooh ooh can’t turn aroooound, we’ve come this faaaar by faith.” Please remember this when our faith rises, our spirits soar!
In closing tomorrow, I will be preaching “Six times Jesus chose solitude above being around people”. Please share the link below with at least 10 people. This upcoming week (August 10 - August 14) is Gethsemane. The church will be closed but there will be someone on call. Please pray for me as I pray for you. I truly love and miss you all!!
Peace & Love,
John L Brooks
