To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...” (Ecclesiastes 3)

Greetings, Macedonia Family and Friends!

Today is officially the last day of summer. Just as seasons change in the weather, they also change in our lives. For most of us, 2020 has been a season of fear, anxiety, chaos, confusion, anger, and grief. Simultaneously, it has been a season of faith, perseverance, endurance, and patience — particularly when it comes to not being able to come together in worship and fellowship in our edifice.

It has been tough for ALL of us! Preaching to an empty sanctuary is no pleasant feat! As I have told you previously, there has been a Re-Opening Committee working feverishly to develop a safe plan to get us back together; and we are making progress. As promised, the following is an update on where we stand:

TENTATIVE Target Date for scaled re-opening - Sunday October 11, 2020 (provided the COVID-19 numbers in the KC metropolitan area stay steady and do not spike).

TENTATIVE Schedule - Sunday School will remain virtual at 8:30 a.m.  Worship service will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will be limited to a MAXIMUM 100 persons. For those who don’t feel comfortable coming back at this time, Virtual Worship Service will remain accessible via Facebook and Livestream.

Attendance Prerequisite: A person interested in attending must register to do so. Admission will be on a first come, first served basis. A person can register up to 6 people, including him or herself.  (Note: we will be asking people to be considerate of others wanting to attend; therefore, you will not be allowed to attend consecutive Sundays.) Nevertheless, we anticipate that as we are allowed to increase the number of attendees, the ability to attend consecutive Sunday services will increase also.

Attendance Requirements: Preregistration; Masks for everyone entering the building; Social distancing (to be maintained by assigned seating); Temperature checks prior to entrance.

As of TODAY, this is the essence of the Committee’s recommendations. We are doing our best to ensure the safety of everyone who will attend Worship Services. I ask for your continued patience as we continue to work through this process. I will keep you abreast as the plan develops and unfolds. Please pray for the Re-opening Committee as we diligently work to bring us back together in the safest manner possible.

In closing, as we continue to tread this path God has set before us, let us remain faithful, and join in agreement, in this simple prayer:  “Lord, help me to hold out; until my change comes!”

Peace & Love,

John L. Brooks
